Course Summary
This course allows you to study all three sciences at Level 3 giving you a broad science knowledge base in preparation for higher education or entering the workplace. It compliments a wide variety of other courses.
Course Details
In year 1 you will study three units, one for each of the three sciences covering topics such as Cells and Biological molecules, atomic structure and organic chemistry, electrical circuits and laws of motion.
In year 2 you will cover two units. Unit 4 assessing practical scientific procedures and techniques and unit 6 looking at contemporary issues in science.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will sit exams at the end of the first year to assess your Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each of the exams will be one-hour long and have 50 marks over a mix of short and long answer questions.
The second year units will be assessed via assignments set by the exam board and marked by your teacher. You will be set a series of practical tasks for unit 4 where you will have to demonstrate your ability to complete tasks and carry out related calculations and evaluations under controlled conditions. For unit 6 you will complete assignments on issues such as climate change and medical treatments as well as looking at the role of government and NGOs and how science is communicated.
Entry requirements
At least five GCSEs graded 9-4 including 4-4 in Double award Science or 4 in all three if taking triple science. You will also need to have a grade 4 or above in English and maths.

This course along with suitable other courses could lead to studying Nursing, Animal Behaviour, Psychology and Education as well as others. It will also allow progression into employment or apprenticeships.
